Religious authority Jawad Al-Khalisi warned Iraqi government officials on Friday of potential disasters resulting from the spread of corruption.
In his sermon on Friday in Al-Kadhimiya, Al-Khalisi urged for the eradication of corruption in the country, specifically the elimination of drinking bars, brothels, nudity, lawlessness, gambling, usury, illegal appropriation of people’s money, and the neglect of the poor, oppressed, and sick. He expressed concern for the widespread suffering of people in various locations.
“Government officials must prioritize their people and country, or else God will bring earthquakes, disasters, and calamities,” he warned.
