On Wednesday, Haider Nouri Al-Karowitz, Director of General Company for Grain Trade in Iraq, disclosed that a group of Russian businesses explored the prospect of producing and providing machinery and equipment for wheat transportation.

Al-Karavi said: “Yesterday, a meeting was held with a delegation of Russian companies, and Iraq was invited to attend the next Expo.”

He further said: “We showed the Russian delegation our demands as a grain trading organization. We asked for machinery and tools particular to wheat, as well as kinds of tools to load wheat from the ground to the truck. The company’s warehouses contain wheat, which we must load mechanicalically from the warehouses to the trucks. We also asked for the possibility of producing machinery for truck to ship unloading and vice versa.

Al-Karawi said, “the Russian delegation confirmed that all of these mechanisms will be present during the exhibition, and everything the Iraqi company needs can be provided to Iraq.”

He underlined that “the Russian delegation also discussed with the Iraqi General Company for Foodstuffs Trade the possibility of supplying cooking oil or crude oil to Iraq.” Al-Karowitz had projected on September 10 that Iraq will buy from Russia between 150,000 and 200,000 tons of wheat monthly.

“We have great communication with Russian traders on this issue, and there will also be communication with the Russian government during the coming period,,” he said, “there is great and open cooperation without interruption, and we expect in the coming months, after the zero flour is produced inside Iraq, that there will be much larger quantities and it is possible that we will reach 150 or 200 thousand tons per month.”

“The next few days will witness the arrival of 80 thousand tons of Russian wheat to Iraq via two ships that were recently contracted,” Haider Nouri Al-Karowitz, the Director of the General Company for Grain Trade in Iraq, said at closing.
