The main indices of the US stock market rose slightly on Friday at the beginning of trading.

The rise came as investors reassessed the chances that the US Federal Reserve would cut interest rates further next week.

The European Central Bank cut interest rates by 25 basis points, for the second time this year, during its meeting today, Thursday, in line with expectations.

According to the European Central Bank’s statement, the main interest rate on deposits was reduced to 3.50 percent, compared to 3.75 percent, the level it reached in June after being reduced by 25 points from its record level of 4 percent.

The European Central Bank indicated that declining inflation and slowing economic growth allow for some easing of monetary policy.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 56.9 points, or 0.14 percent, at the open to 41,153.7.

The Standard & Poor’s 500 index rose 7.6 points, or 0.14 percent, to 5,603.34 points.

The Nasdaq Composite Index also advanced 5.6 points, or 0.03 percent, to 17,575.258 points.
