On Wednesday, the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its approval of the United Nations General Assembly’s resolution to promote dialogue and tolerance between different religions and cultures to counter hate speech. The ministry also emphasized the importance of combating all types of discrimination, xenophobia, and hate speech.

On Tuesday, the United Nations General Assembly voted on a resolution that promotes dialogue and tolerance among religions and cultures in response to the burning of the Noble Qur’an in front of Iraqi embassies in Sweden and Denmark. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement through the Shafaq News agency, urging all relevant parties, including states, to intensify their efforts to address this issue in accordance with international human rights law.

She strongly believed that disrespecting and showing contempt towards any expression of belief or religion can lead to division in societies and create tensions, which may eventually result in expressions of disrespect, inciting anger and conflict among people. This can turn differences in beliefs into hatred and potentially lead to violence.
