Reaching about $268 million, foreign remittance sales grew in the Central Bank auction Wednesday by 96% over cash sales.

At an exchange rate of 1310 dinars per dollar for documentary credits and international settlements for electronic cards, which represents the basic exchange rate, at the price of 1310 dollars per dollar for foreign transfers and 1305 dollars per dollar in cash, Shafaq News Agency correspondent said that the bank sold 280 million 775 thousand and 565 dollars in today’s currency auction.

He explained that most of the dollar sales were to increase balances abroad in the form of remittances and credits, which had stood at $268,125,565, representing a 96% increase over cash sales of $12,650,000.

Our correspondent reports that a single bank purchased cash dollars, while fifteen banks met applications to augment balances abroad; the total number of exchange firms which participated in the auction was sixteen companies.
