The Workers Union confirmed on Tuesday that the national industry in Iraq is facing five challenges.
The head of the Diyala Thaer Workers Union, Abdul Moeen Al-Sultan, stated in an interview with Al-Maalouma that the national industry faces several challenges. The first challenge is random imports, and the industry lacks real support in the absence of a national strategy to revive industrial cities that contain thousands of factories, laboratories, and workshops.
He warned that certain countries are transforming the Iraqi market into a consumer that imports everything, which is dangerous and has repercussions.
He pointed out that 75-80% of Iraq’s public and private factories are suspended, some turned into scrap, and tens of thousands lost their jobs. He called for a clear road map to revive the national industry.
