Today, Wednesday, the President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, announced that Iraq will soon begin a campaign to reconstruct and rehabilitate its infrastructure.
Al-Maalouma received a statement from the media office of the President of the Republic, which announced that Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, the President of the Republic, met with the heads and representatives of European diplomatic missions accredited to Iraq at the Baghdad Palace.
The president emphasized the importance of Iraq’s relationships with European countries and the rest of the world. He expressed the desire to establish these relationships on a foundation of cooperation, respect, and joint effort in various fields, striving for balance both regionally and internationally.
He mentioned that the country is currently enjoying security and stability, which is leading to an improvement in the quality of life and services for its citizens. He expressed his intention to present an accurate picture of the positive developments happening in Iraq.
He stated that once the general budget has been approved, there will be a reconstruction and construction campaign in Iraq to restore the infrastructure and implement the government’s program. It is expected that the electricity and services sectors will experience growth in the next phase. He emphasized the importance of ambassadors encouraging companies to invest in critical projects and come to Iraq.
He emphasized that insulting the Holy Qur’an is a reprehensible act and has no connection with freedom of opinion and expression. He also mentioned that the Iraqi government has implemented measures to guarantee the protection and safety of embassies and diplomatic missions in Iraq.
During the meeting, an explanation was provided for the withdrawal of the unconstitutional Republican Decree No. (147) of 2013. It was emphasized that all sects and religions in the country are equal and respected components of the Iraqi people.
The President had a meeting with members of European diplomatic missions who expressed their delight at meeting him. They discussed various issues and made several observations. They affirmed their countries’ support for Iraq, its stability, security, and the well-being of its people. They also expressed their desire to strengthen relations of friendship and cooperate in different fields to achieve common interests and consolidate peace and prosperity.
