On Wednesday, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, the President of the Republic, contacted Pavel Talabani, the President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, for help in resolving any unresolved issues with Baghdad by following the law and constitution.
The Presidency received a statement regarding Rashid’s meeting with the Union delegation. The meeting focused on the general situation in the country, the relationship between federal and Kurdistan Regional Government, and the importance of resolving issues in accordance with the constitution and the law. They emphasized the need for serious and constructive dialogue between political parties and to speed up the adoption of the oil and gas law.
There was discussion about the Presidency of the Republic’s ongoing efforts to fulfill the legislative requirements related to the implementation of Article 140 of the Constitution.
The focus was on aiding the government to carry out its program in a manner that offers essential services to citizens and ensures a respectable standard of living for the diverse Iraqi population and their affiliations.
During the meeting, they talked about the upcoming provincial and parliamentary elections in the Kurdistan region. They emphasized the importance of supporting the Independent High Electoral Commission to ensure that the elections are conducted fairly and transparently. It is crucial that the election process meets the expectations of the Iraqi people, allowing them to freely choose their representatives.
