The Kurdistan Democratic Bloc in the Iraqi Parliament intends to amend the federal budget law

The head of the Democratic Party bloc in the Iraqi Parliament, Vian Sabri, announced today that her bloc intends to modify the budget law by including the entire Kurdistan region’s share.

Vian Sabry, the head of the Democratic Party parliamentary bloc, stated that the Prime Minister of Kurdistan Regional Government has agreed with the Prime Minister of Iraq to pay three months’ salaries, while Baghdad is responsible for paying the remaining two months.

Sabry stated that the Kurdistan region’s share of Iraq’s actual spending has been paid, but the region’s share should be paid from Iraq’s total revenues, not just from the actual agreement, so this item in the budget must be amended.

She mentioned that they are currently working on amending the budget law to ensure that the Kurdistan Region’s share is delivered in full. If the employee salaries are covered for three months, the remaining two months will require the Iraqi government to pay the salaries, provided that the final accounts are settled by the end of the current year.
