The Commission: Nearly 250,000 voters have updated their data, and Diyala and Najaf are the least popular provinces

On Tuesday, the Independent High Electoral Commission announced that around 250,000 voters have recently updated their data.

At a press conference in Baghdad today, Imad Jamil, head of the commission’s media team, announced that over 220,000 voters have updated their information and more than 250,000 voters have visited registration centers to verify their data.

According to his statement, Nineveh is the leading governorate in terms of requesting modernization centers. It is followed by Karkh, Salah al-Din, Rusafa, and Kirkuk. He also mentioned that Najaf and Diyala have the lowest demand for modernization centers due to their high registration rates from previous modernization and registration procedures.

Jamil mentioned that there are 275 seats up for grabs in the governorates, along with 10 seats for different groups. Among these, 4 seats are reserved for Christians, 2 for Faili Kurds, and likewise 2 for Mandaeans. Additionally, there will be one seat each for Yezidis and Shabak.

Early November of this year will see provincial elections taking place in Iraq.
