At the Thursday currency auction, the dollar sales of the Central Bank of Iraq totaled around $257 million.

Covering it at a basic exchange rate of 1310 dinars per dollar for documentary credits and international settlements for electronic cards, and at a rate of 1310 dinars per dollar for foreign transfers, the bank sold 257 million, 345 thousand and 110 dollars in its auction today, according to Shafaq News Agency correspondent.

Most of the dollar sales, he said, went to raise balances overseas in the form of remittances and credits, totaling $244,595,110, up 95% from cash sales of $12,750,000.

Our correspondent noted that one bank bought cash dollars, while fifteen banks fulfilled requests to improve balances overseas; the overall number of exchange businesses taking part in the auction was twenty-two companies.
