The Ain al-Asad air base in Anbar Governorate, used by US forces, faced a drone attack causing significant material damage and rendering one of its runways unusable. The attack took place on Wednesday.
According to a security source, an attack using three drones targeted the Ain Al-Asad Air Base building in the town of Al-Baghdadi, located in the Hit District, west of Anbar. The attack caused significant damage to one of the base’s runways, which resulted in it becoming non-operational.
He stated that American forces rely on drones for defense and intelligence purposes, while also conducting repairs on the damaged runway.
According to him, the American forces were taken by surprise during the attack, as the building was equipped with modern defense systems to prevent any intrusion. This caused the American forces to take unprecedented precautionary measures at the Ain al-Assad base, indicating their concern about the possibility of similar attacks in the future.
