Central Bank of Iraq sells $275 million in auction today

With a notable rise in foreign remittance sales by 92% over cash sales, the Central Bank of Iraq auction today, Sunday, exceeded $257 million.

While the cash price was 1305 dinars per dollar, the Central Bank sold in today’s auction an amount of 279 million, 390 thousand, and 704 dollars at an average exchange rate of 1310 dinars per dollar for documentary credits and international settlements for electronic cards and at the same price for foreign transfers, according Shafaq News Agency correspondent.

Since the overall sales in this context amounted to 257 million, 640 thousand, and 704 dollars, which represents an increase of 92% over cash sales, which amounted to 21 million, 750 thousand dollars, most of the dollar sales were dedicated to strengthening the balances abroad.

While 15 banks fulfilled requests to improve balances overseas, our correspondent noted that just one bank purchased the cash dollar and that the number of exchange companies engaged in the auction came out to be 15 companies.
