The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rasheed, and the representatives of religions in Iraq, on Sunday, held a protest to denounce the deliberate abuse of the Qur’an and Islamic knowledge in Sweden and Denmark.
In a statement to Shafaq News Agency, the media of the Presidency of the Republic stated that the president met at the Palace of Baghdad, the Council of Al-Tawaif al-Khisyad, which includes the head of the Al-Saryan Catholic sect in Baghdad, Bishop Mar Afram Yusuf Abba, the patriarchal director of the Armenian Catholics, Bishop Narsis Joseph Zabaryan, and the head of the Coptic sect in Iraq, Father Mina Orshalimi, and the head of the Baghdad Church of the Old Eastern Church, Father Shimon Yunus Aslan, and the general attorney of the Roman Orthodox Patriarchate in Iraq, Father Yonan al-Farid, in addition to Amin Sir Al-Majlis al-Ruhani al-Sabai, Sheikh Anmar Odeh Mahawi.
At the beginning of the meeting, the President of the Republic expressed his continued support for the sects and religions in Iraq and for the establishment of peaceful coexistence, brotherhood and solidarity between all the components of the Iraqi society, affirming that the President of the Republic will appoint advisers to follow up the affairs of the sects and religions.
The Leader of the Republic added that “he won’t accompany any side in conflict with the opposite side, and he will remain in the center region between individuals of Iraq and at a similar separation from everybody.”
As it happened during the meeting, the explanation of the special circumstances under the Al-Masroom al-Muhamburi number 147 of the year 2013.
On the other hand, the delegation confirmed that the Presidency of the Republic is the supporter of them, and that they are with the unity of the Iraqi people in all its components, and that every action is consistent with the constitution and the law.

At long last, the president went to the dissent rally coordinated today in the Administration of the Republic to challenge the purposeful maltreatment of the Sacred Qur’an and the destroying of Iraqi information.
And the participants in Al-Waqfah Al-Thajajiyah expressed their displeasure and condemnation of the burning of the Holy Qur’an and the tearing down of Iraqi knowledge.Iraqi News
