The Federal Integrity Commission’s Investigation Department announced on Friday that a police officer from the Kirkuk Police Directorate has been sentenced to prison in absentia for embezzling over two billion Iraqi dinars.
The Criminal Court of Kirkuk, Second Division, has sentenced an officer of the Mirrah Division of the Kirkuk Police Directorate to 15 years in prison in absentia for embezzling 2,048,390,000 dinars, according to the department’s statement.
The accused had embezzled funds meant for military uniforms and committed other violations with accomplices. Materials were missing from storage and the investigatory council found the accused responsible for the shortage.
