Parliamentary services: The provincial budget is released after the local elections to prevent its political use

The Parliamentary Services and Reconstruction Committee confirmed today that the financial budget for governorate allocations will not be released until after the next local elections.

According to a recent statement made by committee member Baqir Al-Saadi, the financial allocations from the budget to the governorates will not be released at the moment. Instead, they will be distributed to the governorates after the upcoming provincial council elections.

Al-Saadi stated that the reason for this is to prevent conservative groups from exploiting these allocations and budgets for political purposes during the election.

During his speech, he highlighted that the budget comprises numerous significant service projects that will benefit all the governorates.

He explained that food security funds are still being distributed by the governorates, and emphasized that certain governors and officials will be held accountable for the use and outcome of the Food Security Law funds.
