Parliamentary Legal: Concerns over Personal Status Law are Misunderstood

The Parliamentary Legitimate Advisory Group confirmed that concerns over the Individual Status Regulation are misinterpreted and noted that all comments regarding the law will be considered.

“There is no burden of will in passing the law, and the present meeting for the subsequent perusing finished in view of the proposition that will be considered and concentrated on in forming the draft regulation,” advises group Raed Al-Maliki to the authority organization.

“The pith of the law is to give Iraqis the opportunity to pick their own status as per the constitution, which promises it in Article 41,” he said.

The Place of Delegates stopped discussing the suggestion to change the Individual Status Regulation last Monday.

“The Place of Agents has finished the report and conversation of the proposed regulation changing the Individual Status Regulation No. ( 188) of 1959, Articles 2 and 10,” the Iraqi News Agency (INA) said from the media section of the House of Representatives.
