The Parliamentary Electricity and Energy Committee asserted that it does not aim at attacking the Minister of Electricity before Parliament, and explained this by saying that the committee normally checks on the development of the ministry and arranges minister and top ministry staff visits.
MP Suhaila Al-Sultani, a member of the committee, explained, “The committee translates its interest by hosting the Minister of Electricity and the advanced technical and administrative staff in the ministry on a regular and weekly basis to review the field work of the ministry and enhance the hours of supply.” A committee member, MP Suhaila Al-Sultani, explained, “The committee is exceptionally and diligently interested in following up on the work of the Ministry of Electricity, especially in summer.”
She further said that “the committee has no intention at the present time to question the Minister of Electricity” and “the rumors about the intention to question him are incorrect.”
She said, “Building a power plant in Karbala Governorate will be a positive factor towards the solution of the electricity crisis.”
