According to Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Economy and Trade Committee, Yasser Al-Husseini, Iraq will not be reducing its trade with Turkey anytime soon due to the stagnant state of the Iraqi economy.
During an interview with Al-Maalouma agency, Al-Husseini stated that severing economic relations is a challenging task, especially since the Iraqi economy is still vulnerable.
He stated that the Iraqi economy has not been revived by the government in terms of decision-making or technical and financial support.
Al-Husseini highlighted that the Iraqi economic sector is currently encountering numerous risks due to neglect and the inability to compete.
He stated that discussing the possibility of cutting economic ties with Turkey at this time is not a viable option.
Rafik Al-Salhi, a member of the Parliamentary Agriculture, Water, and Marshes Committee and representative of the Al-Sadiqun bloc, has urged the government to terminate trade and economic ties with Turkey. He believes this action will help resolve the water crisis and stop the flow of river tributaries.
