Independent MP Ahmed Majeed Al-Sharmani called on the Prime Minister to name a qualified successor for the Central Bank Governor. According to him, Al-Sharmani added, the policies of the Central Bank failed to contain the dollar issue against the Iraqi Dinar.
“There is a discrepancy between the level of sales of currency in the black and parallel markets with respect to the price set by the government and the Central Bank,” he said, adding that “so far the policy of the Central Bank towards the crisis of the dollar has not succeeded.”
He underlined that “these positions are assigned to incompetent people under political pressure” and there was an immense “need of replacing the governor of the Central Bank with a competent person.”
