Fresh hope within the Parliamentary Finance Committee about “manipulating” the 2024 budget proposals.
“The government sent the 2024 budget tables two months ago and there was agreement on them in the Finance Committee as well as under the dome of Parliament,” committee member Moeen Al-Kazemi said during his hosting on the {Free Talk} show carried by Al-Furat satellite channel tonight.
Observing that “the Prime Minister’s relentless efforts are a good thing away from political interference,” he explained, “The tables showed a difference with the government version and the House of Representatives responded by the government working on the original tables, which amounted to 211 trillion dinars.”
Al-Kazemi underlined “the Finance Committee’s decision to form an investigation committee to find out the reasons for the difference in the tables and the Parliament Presidency objected to forming the committee on the pretext that it is not within the committee’s jurisdiction.”{{{
“The major fundamental change that occurred in the budget tables was in favour of the Ministry of Trade in order to increase the food ration amounts by 5 trillion dinars,” he stated.
“No accusation has been brought against any representative, and so far we have not reached the goal of tampering with the limits of 15 trillion dinar,” Al-Kadhimi underlined “the seriousness of the Finance Committee to continue investigating to find out the reason despite the objection of the Parliament Presidency, and so far we have not reached the goal of tampering with the limits of 15 trillion dinar.”
