An economist, Abbas Al-Bassel, emphasized on Saturday that the Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq, Ali Mohsen Al-Alaq, must go with respect to the violations of the law and the constitution committed by the Central Bank.
Abbas Al-Bassel said in a statement to Al-Jarida: “When Al-Alaq was brought in, the work of the corrupt whales among the politicians became active when they started to invest in dollars, and the private sector was terminated. While the Central Bank created unnatural complications by launching a campaign against the simple shops and kiosks in Shorja and Karrada markets, preventing the sale of electrical supplies, food supplies, and clothing in dollars, and taking pledges from shop owners to prevent dealing in dollars.
“The dollar is currently on the rise, when there is no official statement by the Central Bank regarding the size of settlements leaving the country, so Ali Al-Alaq should be replaced with a professional, non-hardliner figure,” al-Bassel added.
