Labor Minister announces social aid program progress in Iraq

Today, Thursday, the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Ahmed Al-Asadi, announced that the social aid program has completed four phases and is now entering its fifth phase. He also mentioned that there is a possibility of including 2.2 million citizens by the end of the year.

During an interview with Shafaq News Agency, Al-Asadi confirmed that four phases have been completed, providing coverage to a significant number of citizens. The fifth phase is expected to conclude in the upcoming weeks.

We are constantly working on data integration, and once we have analyzed the poverty assessments, we will proceed with announcing the fifth phase.

Al-Asadi stated that more than 1.957 million citizens have been covered and it is expected that by the end of the year, the number of beneficiaries will reach 2.2 million.

As of July 22, 2023, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs has reported a rise in the number of families receiving social protection aid. They anticipate that by the end of the year, more than two million people will benefit from this program.
