Reaching more than $252 million, sales of foreign remittances at the Central Bank auction on Wednesday showed a notable rise of 93% over cash sales.
With a basic exchange rate cover of 1310 dinars per dollar for documentary credits and international settlements for electronic cards, and at a price of 1310 dinars per dollar for foreign transfers, the Central Bank sold in its auction today 262 million, 943 000 and 208 dollars, said Shafaq News Agency correspondent.
Boosting balances overseas in the form of credits and transfers accounted for most of the dollar sales, totaling $246,543,208, a 93% rise over cash sales of $16,400,000.
Our correspondent noted that 13 banks met requests to improve balances abroad, while only one bank purchased cash dollars. Ten trading companies took part in the auction as well.
