On Friday, Representative Mudar Al-Karawi made an announcement that the Prime Minister has agreed to provide a return grant for the displaced individuals in six areas of Diyala.
During an interview with Al-Maalouma, Al-Karawi shared that Prime Minister Muhammad Shia’a Al-Sudani has approved the inclusion of displaced individuals from 6 liberated areas in Diyala for the return grant. Al-Karawi also mentioned that they have submitted an official request and the Ministry of Migration and Displaced has been instructed to implement it.
He suggested that including families who have been forcibly displaced in the return grant and speeding up the disbursement process would improve their living conditions. This is especially important as 50% of these families are below the poverty line and have suffered severe damages due to the destruction caused by terrorist groups.
In recent years, numerous families have come back to the formerly occupied zones in Diyala following the stabilization of the security situation.
