The company restored the six-inch fuel oil pipeline linking the “June 1” depot with Kirkuk Cement Plant, southeast of Kirkuk, in Lilan.
The Ministry of Oil said in a statement that the line, immobile for more than three years, became functional again.
Ali Abdul Kareem Al-Moussawi, Director General of the Oil Pipelines Company, has thus far pointed out that the maintenance and rehabilitation carried out by the technical and engineering teams on the pipeline have been duly completed so that it can now carry fuel oil at 22 cubic meters per hour to the Kirkuk Cement Plant. The main purpose of this pipeline is to secure a sustainable and continuous supply of fuel oil from the depot on June 1 to the plant, and in turn, this will increase productivity and secure a continuous supply of cement for Kirkuk and other provinces.
The works for maintenance include the repair of all damaged stretches along the path of the pipeline, maintenance of known pumping and receiving systems, and calibration of meters. In accordance with the wish of the Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Minister of Oil and also the Undersecretary for Distribution Affairs, Al-Moussawi said that the company is working on upgrading the pipeline system, upgrading the pumping and receiving facilities, addition of storage capacity, to ensure fuel supply to strategic installations and power stations.
