the appeal MP Raed Al-Maliki lodged against Legislative Resolution No. 64 of 2024 on the House of Representatives’ acceptance of the budgetary plans.

Al-Maliki said, in a statement, “The appeal submitted against the parliamentary decision in its present form.”

He then remarked, “What is required for the appeal? Maybe you mean it should be turned straight against the schedules; in either case, Article 22 of the internal rules, which says “non-governmental bodies, whether they are representatives of the people or citizens, are prohibited from appealing,” will deny the appeal.

He said that “at the same time, the court rejected the appeal submitted by the member of the Finance Committee (MP Mustafa Al-Karaishi) who challenged the schedules, and justified the response by stating that he had no interest in the appeal.”

“It was expected that the appeals would be rejected since the court would give priority to what it considers to be the supreme interest of the state by proceeding with the implementation of the budget schedules and would not set things back regardless of the existence of valid legal reasons for the appeal,” Al-Maliki said. “The court would give highest priority to what it considers to be the supreme interest of the state.”
