The Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey, Alparslan Bayraktar, met with Mohammed Al-Najjar, Advisor to the Prime Minister of Iraq for Affairs of Investment, on cooperation between both countries in energy and development fields.
The Turkish minister tweeted on Thursday that he had received in the capital Ankara, Al-Najjar, chairman of the Development Fund of Iraq.
Bayraktar expressed that he has discussed with Al-Najjar the continuous participation between Turkey and Iraq on the issues of energy and the advancement road project.
“Turning the development road project into an energy road that serves our region, with our electricity, oil, and natural gas lines, ” he added, was one of these possibilities.
Under the directions of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, in Baghdad on 22 April, a four-party memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the “Development Road” project was signed by Turkey, Iraq, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates.
The “Street of Development” project is a land and railroad street extending from Iraq to Turkey and its ports, with a total length of 1,200 kilometers inside Iraq, and plans to move goods among Europe and the Gulf states.
