At the Thursday currency auction, the dollar sales of the Central Bank of Iraq totalled around $266 million.
Shafaq News Agency correspondent said that the bank sold 266 million, 170 thousand, and 874 dollars in its auction today covering it at a basic exchange rate of 1310 dinars per dollar for documentary credits and international settlements for electronic cards, and at a rate of 1310 dinars per dollar for foreign transfers, and at a rate of 1305 dinars per dollar in cash.
Most of the dollar sales, he said, went to build balances overseas in the form of remittances and credits, totalling $252 million, 270 thousand and 874, an increase of 84% over cash sales total of $12 million, 900 thousand.
Our correspondent noted that only one bank bought cash dollars; 13 banks responded to requests to improve balances overseas; and 16 exchange companies overall took part in the auction.
