In an interview, the United Anbar Alliance said it believed that the American attack on the Popular Mobilization Forces in Jurf al-Nasr last week had caused a rupture in the relationship between the government and the United States.
“America created tension in the area by targeting the popular mobilization forces, and discontent among Iraqi security leadership about its presence,” said Dhari al-Dulaimi, the alliance’s leader.
He said that the recent American escalation put the government in a tight corner regarding the popular demands for the withdrawal of American forces from all its bases in Iraq.
He added, “Departure of American forces from Iraq has become an absolute necessity.”.
