An economist who pledges to control the exchange rate of the dollar by taking practical technical measures

On Monday, economic affairs researcher Muhammad al-Saadi made a commitment to regulating the exchange rate of the dollar in the parallel market through practical technical measures. He emphasized that this will be achieved without resorting to any methods involving arrests or the use of force.

Al-Saadi informed Al-Maalouma that the authorities are taking action to prosecute speculators who aim to harm the Iraqi economy. This is the first step towards eliminating the discrepancies between the official and parallel markets.

He emphasized the urgency of making decisions regarding technical and financial aspects that would provide more opportunities for selling the currency and enable citizens to purchase limited quantities under certain restrictions or preconditions.

He pointed out that citizens often face the issue of high exchange rates before merchants do. Merchants have started using official platforms to obtain dollars, while citizens still struggle to get them. Some citizens even experience difficulties purchasing cars in dollars at showrooms.

He suggested that the government can offer an opportunity for individuals interested in purchasing a car to acquire US dollars. This can be done by presenting an official purchase contract and exchanging it for hard currency through authorized banks or outlets.
