Saad Al-Quraishi, member of the Province of Regulation Alliance, pointed out that political and economic interests are standing behind the continued presence of American forces inside Iraq.
“Political and economic interests could be the pretext others use to keep American forces inside Iraq and not take a definitive resolution to withdraw them from the country,” Al-Quraishi said in an interview.
“Because of the lack of political will,” he continued, “Iraq cannot do without American forces on its land.”
He explained, “Washington is the primary beneficiary of the presence of its forces inside Iraq to ensure its hegemony over the region, so Iraq will never benefit from the presence of American forces on its territory.”
He then pointed out that “the American presence in Iraq came as a burden from Washington and not at Iraq’s solicitation”.
