Before their planned date at the end of next year, Haider al-Abadi, the head of the Victory Coalition, declared against holding early legislative elections in Iraq.

Al-Abadi said in a press statement, “Holding parliamentary elections before their scheduled date in November 2025 is not possible,” noting that “Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani is not new to responsibility, and this has created an atmosphere of interaction with the people, ‘s stressing that “political disputes and competition should not affect the work of the government.”

Declaring that “there is a sharp Sunni dispute and some of them do not want to elect a new Speaker of the House of Representatives,” he noted that “not proposing the election of the Speaker of Parliament in the sessions held is a clear violation {and perjury.”

He said: “the Coordination Framework and the Democratic Party agreed to form a committee to communicate and prevent the expansion of problems.”

“There is serious governmental research and discussion to end the work of the international coalition in Iraq, and the Iraqi discussions with the American side are heading towards ending its presence in Iraq within a year,” Al-Abadi noted.
