On Saturday, Jassim Al-Atwani, a member of the House of Representatives, made a request concerning the individuals involved in the Electoral Commission. He emphasized the importance of a commission that is not influenced by politics during this critical stage. Al-Atwani expressed his concerns about the confusion caused by the commission’s actions and management, leading to doubts and accusations. During an interview with the information agency, he stated his belief that the commission needs to address these issues to regain public trust.

“We cannot afford to return to the difficult situation brought about by the UNHCR,” stated the House of Representatives member. They emphasized the need for an unbiased commission that does not favor any political party and works with all political blocs equally. They believe that having representation from all political blocs in the commission will bring about balance.

Raed al-Maliki, a member of the Parliamentary Legal Committee, has disclosed that there is a movement within the parliament to alter the High Electoral Commission, even though its mandate expires at the end of this year. He emphasized that the political parties have a strong desire to change the members of the Electoral Commission and revise its law.

The Independent High Commission recently announced the upcoming provincial council elections and opened applications for individuals interested in working as polling officers during the event. The elections are scheduled to take place in the coming months.
