the Kurdistan Democratic Party revealed an official visit from the Kurdistan government to Baghdad during the next two days, and among the files to be discussed by the Kurdish delegation, it confirmed that the region had handed over the entire oil file to the federal SOMO company.
The leader of the party, Wafa Muhammad, said in an interview with the information agency, that “a governmental and technical delegation from Kurdistan was on an official visit to Baghdad five days ago,” noting that “the chief of staff of the region’s cabinet, Omid Sabah, confirmed during the visit Kurdistan’s commitment to the agreement concluded between Baghdad and Erbil.”
He mentioned that the oil file was transferred to SOMO Federal Company. Additionally, he noted that Kurdistan has started to send 50-60 thousand barrels of crude oil per day to Baghdad in order to benefit from its derivatives.
The leader of Barzani’s party explained, “This delegation will return again to Baghdad during the next two days to discuss the entitlements of the Kurdistan region’s share in the financial budget law, and the liquidation of the seven months from the beginning of the year until now.”
A report by the Oil Price website, which specializes in economic news, had revealed, earlier in the day, that the Kurdistan Regional Government had begun to deliver quantities of oil daily to Baghdad as part of a budget deal under which the Iraqi federal government would be responsible for exporting crude oil to Kurdistan.
