On National Day.. Romanski congratulates Al-Maliki and confirms her support for the stability of Iraq

The former Prime Minister of Iraq, Nouri al-Maliki, informed the US Ambassador to Iraq, Elena Romanski, about Iraq’s preparedness to hold local elections on Tuesday.

According to a statement from his media office, Al-Maliki met with Romanski in his office today. The statement noted that Ambassador Romanski congratulated Al-Maliki on the National Day of the Republic of Iraq at the start of their meeting, and expressed his hopes for continued progress and prosperity for the Iraqi people.

As per the statement, both parties discussed the future of their relationship and Iraq’s involvement in recent United Nations General Assembly meetings held in New York. Baghdad expressed a desire to actively engage in international forums and maintain positive relationships with the international community.

The leader of the State of Law coalition emphasized that Iraq aims to establish fair relationships with all nations worldwide through collaboration and consideration of mutual interests. He explained that Iraq is preparing for upcoming local elections that will prioritize transparency and integrity, with the goal of restoring the effectiveness of local governments to provide better services to citizens.

The American Ambassador reiterated her country’s commitment to supporting Iraq’s stability and providing the necessary assistance to the Iraqi people. This was stated in a release by Al-Maliki’s media office, which highlighted the strategic framework agreement between the two nations.
